Making the Right Switch for the Environment: A Look at Vacuum Degreasing
There is a reason why environmentally friendly techniques and practices are such a driving force in the world these days. Not only is this being implemented in lifestyle practices, but also in various forms of machine manufacturing and process care. Many individuals and companies are making the switch to more environmentally friendly and safe cleaning processes. Answering the needs of engineers in all fields including military, automotive, telecommunication, aerospace, and medical devices.
KYZEN Corporation offers modern vacuum vapor degreasing cleaning chemistries that meet our customers’ needs for safe, environmentally acceptable solvents for their most critical cleaning applications. This specific system has many advantages such as lower solvent usage costs, controlled process that yields repeatable results and a minimum operator interface. Ultimately, this machine process leads to a lower cost of operations in general.
Learn more by reading this article by our Global Product Line Manager, Joe McChesney, on why switching to stronger environmental compliance is the way of the future below. Additionally, you can find the right chemistries that best work with vacuum vapor degreasing equipment in the attached cutsheet.

What Is Phosphating and Why Do I Need It?
Phosphating, or conversion coating, is the application of a phosphate coating to a substrate. Conversion coating can be a very critical part of the pretreatment process, adding significantly to the performance of the finished coating. The first question you might ask yourself is “why phosphate?”. There are three major reasons to do so; to form a stable inert coating on the metal surface, to provide excellent coating, wetting and adhesion, and lastly to inhibit the spread of corrosion from a damaged area. There are also many benefits to implementing the phosphating process and products.
Our Global Product Line Manager, Chuck Sexton, takes a deeper dive into this topic in his paper entitled “Cleaning for Enhanced Coating Operations” which is available for free below. Additionally, you can download our Phosphating Brochure below to see which chemistries best work for this process. If you have any questions, let us know!

Ethan Mueller – Midwest Regional Manager
Born and raised in Central Wisconsin, Ethan has been with KYZEN for the past three years. He attended the University of Wisconsin’s Seven Point where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. Ethan is a proud father to his daughter, River, and his newborn son, Hollis. In his spare time, he enjoys snowboarding, trout fishing, and mountain biking. A few fun facts about Ethan: 1) He bought his first home in Ellsworth, WI back in 2020. 2) If he could live anywhere, he says he would be in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (he’s had an out-of-state fishing license for Michigan since he was 16). 3) His most embarrassing memory is singing Yankee Doodle Dandy at a karaoke festival in Japan when he was 10 but nobody cheered. The Five Forces of Cleaning and How They Apply to You
Cleaning is a common operation in all walks of life. Everyone relies on their internal “clock” to guide them close to the same time and effort every time during their daily or weekly cleaning routines. We clean the bathroom in our house, we clean the dishes we used for dinner last night, and we clean our cars.
Each of these cleaning “processes” is very different: some manual, some automatic, some use high pressure, others soak. However, what if you are teaching someone else or have a special process that needs a high level of precision to be successful, like a manufacturing process? You can’t rely on “motor memory.” You need a detailed, precise process for cleaning. Just what are the pieces that need to be known, specified, and followed to ensure a proper manufacturing process?
To find out about these cleaning processes, read more here or Watch Global Marketing Manager, Sherry Stepp, discuss this topic in her Tech 2 Tech here.
